Dairyman Blues

The Dairyman Blues was filmed near the Yakama people; it includes people from on the reservation or those concerned about the water/air quality on or near the Yakama Indian Reservation.

It certainly raises questions, whether you're against it or in support of the video, if you have unanswered questions, you are right with the people who live there and have questions about their own health.

Thank a local farmer or rancher for keeping his business going and keeping out monstrous operations.

Jan Whitefoot is a Yakama Nation Member who has questions that maybe we all ought to be asking. She certainly has a Native "land" Issue.

It's been my experience that a lot of things happen out on the reservation agricultural fields; a lot more happens in the tribal fields than we are aware of! These activities on the reservation fields can be classed as one of many Native Issues.
A Native Issue can start with your lease, or your title, and go from there. You have to realize that there are a lot of operations in farming. To keep honest farmers honest, you have to keep on top of the game, which means informing yourself of all the Native Issues, all the procedures, all the people involved in farming on a reservation or beneficial use and protection of the land.
That means using your representatives to really represent you, and keeping the signature authorities (Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Special Trustee, and in some cases, your own Native American Tribe) aware of what your needs are. Your needs are everybody's needs, so if one of us Indians has been shorted, it's almost written in stone that we've all been shorted. When any one of us on an Indian Reservation gets shorted by a Policy or a short stroke of a pen, it becomes a Native Issue, because it could happen to any of us after the first occurance. Maybe it's not intentional, maybe it is. But until we all start looking into all of these Native Issues, together, we'll never know...
"Native Issues" was created to inform, educate, and empower Indian Land Owners about the multitude of truly unique Native Issues we are faced with when we own land on an American Indian Reservation.
